15-year-old Milo Cress is a pioneer in the plastic pollution movement. At the age of 9, he started the Be Straw Free movement after deciding one day while eating in a restaurant in his hometown of Burlington, VT that plastic straws are unnecessary and wasteful. From then on, he would refuse straws when dining out. He didn’t just stop there, however, but instead decided to engage members of his local community to Be Straw Free as well. He promoted his campaign by speaking at local schools, in front of environmental groups, at legislative conferences and anywhere else that he could find an audience. His infectious enthusiasm caught on and spread to the national stage. Today Milo Cress and his mission to rid the world of plastic straws has been covered by CNN, The Washington Post and Boston University, just to name a few. He has spoken to audiences around the U.S., Europe and even Australia. Follow Milo's efforts on Ecocycle and Facebook.
